Privacy & your data
Drafted 12 June 2026 (pending review). This policy explains what Uptime collects, why, and the control you have over it.
Who we are
Uptime is a post-game coaching tool for Age of Empires II, operated by Joe Reid, trading as Stratavue — a sole trader in the United Kingdom, at 3 Eridge Green, Lewes, BN7 2SY. For any privacy question or request, contact us at contact@stratavue.co.uk. Joe Reid t/a Stratavue is the sole data controller for all personal data described here. You upload your own game data about yourself — there is no third party on whose behalf you provide it, so no controller-to-processor relationship arises between you and us.
The short version
You sign in with Discord or Google. A small watcher app on your PC uploads finished replays. We read each replay to extract the facts your coaching report needs, then immediately discard the raw replay file — we never store it. The extracted facts and your report are saved to your account so you can see history and trends. You can delete everything at any time from Settings.
What we collect
Account & sign-in. When you sign in with Discord or Google via our authentication provider (Supabase), we receive a user identifier and basic profile details (such as your email and display name) from that provider. We store an account record, your language preference, and your subscription status.
Your replays — and what we keep. The watcher uploads your replay files. We parse each one on our server to extract gameplay facts — age-up times, build order, economy and military signals, your in-game profile id and rating, civilisation, map, and result. The raw replay file is deleted as soon as it has been parsed (it is never written to long-term storage). What we retain is the extracted facts and the generated coaching report, linked to your account.
Anonymised benchmark contributions — only if you opt in. If, and only if, you switch on benchmark contribution, we also save a separate, stripped copy of a game's aggregate facts (civilisation, map, rating bracket, age-up times, result) with no identifier, no name, and no link back to you. This anonymised data improves the benchmark every player is measured against. Because it carries no link to you, it cannot be traced back and is retained even if you later delete your account — this is by design, and is the only data that survives deletion.
Watcher tokens. Your watcher carries a secret token so its uploads attach to your account. You can revoke or regenerate it any time in Settings.
Technical data. Our hosting and infrastructure providers process standard technical data (such as IP address and request logs) to deliver and secure the service.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
We use your account and game data to provide the coaching reports, history, and trends that are the service itself — this is processing necessary to perform our contract with you. We rely on your consent for the optional anonymised benchmark contribution, which you can withdraw at any time by switching it off (this stops future contributions). We rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure, reliable service for basic technical logging. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Advertising
Uptime is free and is funded partly by display advertising. We use Google AdSense to show ads. Where you consent (see Cookies below), Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure ads. Ad personalisation is off unless you accept advertising cookies; with essential-only consent, any ads shown are non-personalised. Google's use of data is described in its own policies. [Confirm AdSense setup, the EEA/UK consent message (a certified CMP), and the final wording — solicitor review item.]
Donations
Uptime is free; donations are entirely voluntary. If you choose to donate, payment is handled by Stripe on a hosted Stripe page — we never see or store your card details. We receive only confirmation and basic transaction information from Stripe.
Who processes your data for us
We use a small number of providers to run Uptime: Supabase (authentication & database; hosted in the EU / Europe region), Vercel (web hosting), Render (the parsing/analysis API), Google AdSense (advertising), Stripe (donations, taken on the Stripe account of Joe Reid t/a Stratavue), and the sign-in providers you choose (Discord and/or Google). Each acts as our processor, or — for the sign-in providers, Google AdSense, and Stripe — as an independent controller for their own part. [Confirm the final list, regions, and that data-processing terms are in place with each — solicitor review item.]
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses. [Confirm the specific mechanism per provider — solicitor review item.]
How long we keep it
The raw replay: not at all — it is discarded immediately after parsing. Your extracted facts and reports: kept while your account is active, and deleted immediately when you delete your account or the specific games. Anonymised benchmark contributions: retained indefinitely, as they contain no personal data. The following are draft retention periods, to confirm on review: technical/server logs ~30 days then rotated; donation transaction records kept as long as UK tax and accounting law require (typically ~6 years). [Confirm the final periods — solicitor review item.]
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent for the benchmark contribution. The two you can exercise yourself right now:
Delete everything. Settings → Danger zone → Delete my account permanently removes your account and all personal data (history, tokens, goals, subscription record) in one step. It is immediate and irreversible.
Withdraw benchmark consent. Turn off benchmark contribution in Settings to stop future anonymised contributions.
Download your data. Settings → Your data → Download my data gives you a JSON file of everything we hold about you (profile, full game history, goals, token metadata).
For any other request — rectification, restriction, or objection — contact contact@stratavue.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Cookies
Essential cookies keep you signed in and keep the service secure; these are always on. With your consent we also use advertising cookies(Google AdSense) to help fund the free app. When you first visit, a banner lets you choose “Accept all” or “Essential only”; advertising cookies are not set unless you accept, and you can change your mind by clearing the choice. We do not use these cookies to track you across unrelated sites beyond what the ad provider requires. [Confirm against the final CMP/AdSense consent flow — solicitor review item.]
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
